It¡¯s been a while since I read about this subject online or offline. You¡¯ve made a lot of points that are clearly original and well-researched.

Having volunteered in the aftermath of Hurricanes Andrew, and then six years later Mitch, and now having been a victim myself of Hurricane Sandy while also trying to help others, I can say that probably more important than anything else, is to let families know that they are not alone and have not been forgotten. As services slowly come back, and help trickles in, they need to feel that their plight is known and that people, utilities, non-profits, federal, state and local governments and quasi-government agencies can and will assist them. If people have hope, they can overcome a great deal of trauma and trouble.
